Google Analytics Tools: The Biggest Change of This Century

As the transition deadline to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) approaches, many organizations and businesses are face with the question of whether to switch to another analytics tool or upgrade to GA4 before the official deadline.

The Google Analytics reform will end Universal Analytics (UA) on June 30, 2023, meaning that after July 1, 2023, UA will no longer collect any data. GA360 users of Google’s enterprise version will have until June 30, 2024 to make the transition.

What is GA4 and how is it different from the previous version?

GA4 is the latest iteration of the Google Analytics platform and is a completely new analytics solution designd to support  updated 2024 mobile phone number data future Google Analytics reporting.

It collects both website and app data and uses event-base data instead of session data, providing a more comprehensive and user-centric approach to website performance analysis, improving the customer journey.

GA4 also includes privacy controls, improvd reporting capabilities, and support for cross-device measurement at the property level.

Note: While GA4 will have all metrics collectd from UA, there may be differences in the way the data is measurd.

For example, the UA system only counts goals once if a user has more than one conversion in a session, while the GA4 system counts goals every time a conversion occurs, even if more than one conversion occurs in a session. This means that the target scores in GA4 may be higher than in UA.

In addition, visits and page views may also differ between the two versions. Although both versions register a page view in the same way (every time a website page is loade or reloadd), the definition of a session has change.

GA4 defines a session as a group of interactions that occur on a website over a period of time , but now includes other factors such as engagement and user behavior .

For example, if a user summary with your email marketing business  visits a website and views three pages, interacts with some of the website’s content, and spends a significant amount of time on the website, that would count as three page views and one session.

UA and GA4 scores will differ!

Although the metrics providd by UA and GA4 will be different when comparing the metrics providd by UA and GA4, it is best to review all settings to ensure they are aligd to minimize the differences between the two versions.

Settings to check may include IP filtering, other filters  bgb Directory implementd by the UA, how subdomains are includor excld from messages, use of direct exclusion lists, and session time limits.

How can GA4 help a business analyze and improve website performance?

The integration of machine learning in GA4 enables automatic identification of patterns and trends in website data, making it easier for  businesses to spot opportunities and make data-driven decisions.

For example, companies can create segments for high-value customers, which may include users who have made a purchase or completd a specific task.
